Onion tomato raita is the most popular raita that is served with biryani or Indian breads. Raita is yogurt based dish and a perfect cooling accompaniment to spicy dishes as it balance out the spiciness.

A popular Indian yogurt dip recipe using onions and tomatoes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup yogurt / curd
  • 1 onion medium-sized
  • A few coriander leaves
  • 1 small tomato
  • 1 green chilli
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, beat the yogurt till it is smooth.
  2. Chop the onion, tomato, green chilli and coriander leaves finely.
  3. Add them to the beaten yogurt along with salt.
  4. Mix well and serve onion tomato raita as an accompaniment to biryani / pulao / parathas.
